My grandfather
I guess the more correct term would be my granduncle, but the term in my native tongue is grandfather for your actual grandfather and all of his brothers. I digress, however, on the importance of these photos. Growing up, I had the skills to take photos, but not the wisdom of whom to take a photo of. I had never met my grandfather on my father’s side as he had passed 8 years before my birth, but I grew up with my maternal grandfather. He, too, passed away but he did so in 2019. When I was 18 years old. I regret not having any good photos of him whatsoever. Not soon after, I started to make an effort with the entirety of my grand family, but I still wasn’t taking many photos.
Life is a fragile thing. Now, I make sure that the forward coming generations know that these are the people who came before us. These are the people that made our village. These are the people who we should strive to be.
